Learners from Highgate Hill House School recently made a heartwarming impact in the local community by visiting a nearby residential care home as part of the school’s ongoing commitment to fostering meaningful connections. The initiative, which took place on 19th December 2024, saw learners create thoughtful shoebox gifts to share with the residents.
The shoeboxes were filled with handmade cards, heartfelt poems, and beautifully crafted clay decorations, all lovingly prepared by the learners.
Kerry Taylor, Principal of Highgate Hill House School, praised the learners for their efforts and highlighted the importance of such initiatives. “Building connections within the local community is hugely important to our school. Projects like this allow our learners to develop empathy and understanding while bringing joy to others,” she said.
The visit was warmly received by the care home residents, many of whom expressed their gratitude and appreciation for the children’s thoughtfulness and creativity. Events like this not only bring happiness to those involved but also provide valuable learning experiences for the learners.
Highgate Hill House School plans to continue and expand its community engagement projects in the future, ensuring that learners can make a positive impact and gain meaningful experiences beyond the classroom.
